An established structural specialist is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join their commercial team based in Keynsham. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong understanding of fabrication and erection to work on a varied portfolio of projects across commercial and industrial sectors.
The Role
As a Structural Steel Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for structural steelwork projects. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure bids are commercially sound and technically compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Carry out material take-offs and labour assessments
- Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Build up rates and pricing in line with current market conditions
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Liaise with clients, engineers, and internal departments during the tender process
- Assist with handover of secured projects to the contracts team
About You
- Proven experience as a Structural Steel Estimator
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office
