An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Homeless Housing Solutions Officer to join a busy local authority housing service on an interim basis. This role is ideal for a housing professional with strong legislative knowledge and a proactive approach to homelessness prevention.

The Role

  • Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused homelessness and housing solutions service, with a strong emphasis on prevention and relief duties.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, assess applications, make legally sound decisions, and secure suitable housing outcomes in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage homelessness and housing options cases in line with Part VI VII of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act.
  • Carry out detailed assessments and reach robust, defensible decisions.
  • Prevent and relieve homelessness through sustainable housing solutions.
  • Arrange and manage temporary accommodation where required.
  • Produce clear, accurate and legally compliant written decisions and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies and private landlords.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with policies and legislation.

  • Demonstrable experience within homelessness or housing options services.
  • In-depth knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation.
