An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Homeless Housing Solutions Officer to join a busy local authority housing service on an interim basis. This role is ideal for a housing professional with strong legislative knowledge and a proactive approach to homelessness prevention.
The Role
- Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused homelessness and housing solutions service, with a strong emphasis on prevention and relief duties.
- Manage a diverse caseload, assess applications, make legally sound decisions, and secure suitable housing outcomes in line with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage homelessness and housing options cases in line with Part VI VII of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act.
- Carry out detailed assessments and reach robust, defensible decisions.
- Prevent and relieve homelessness through sustainable housing solutions.
- Arrange and manage temporary accommodation where required.
- Produce clear, accurate and legally compliant written decisions and reports.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies and private landlords.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
About You
- Demonstrable experience within homelessness or housing options services.
- In-depth knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation.
- Confidence managing complex and emotive cases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
