Tekla Detailer - Structural Steel
Location
Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Job Type
Permanent, Full Time
Salary
- Competitive, based on experience
- The Company
The steel leaving this business goes into major construction and infrastructure projects across the UK - from large commercial and industrial developments to technically demanding structural steel packages.
With a strong track record in complex steelwork, the business has built its reputation on delivering projects where the detailing has to be right first time.
With a varied workload ahead, they are looking for an experienced Tekla Detailer to join the team.
This is an opportunity to work on substantial projects alongside experienced engineers, project managers, fabrication teams and fellow detailers, with plenty of scope to broaden your experience.
The Role
You will be the link between the engineering information and the steel that eventually leaves the fabrication shop.
You will
- Build and develop 3D structural steel models in Tekla Structures, turning engineering information into fabrication-ready detail.
- Produce accurate GA, assembly, single-part and erection drawings.
- Interpret structural drawings and resolve detailing issues before they reach fabrication.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers and the fabrication team to keep projects moving.
- Incorporate design changes and revisions while maintaining model and drawing accuracy.
- Produce the fabrication information needed to get steel manufactured and installed on site.
The work is varied, and the projects will give you exposure to steelwork that demands more than simply producing drawings.
What They Need From You
You will already understand structural steel from a fabrication and construction perspective and know what makes a model work once it reaches the shop floor.
Essential
- Proven experience as a Tekla Detailer / Structural Steel Detailer.
- Strong hands-on experience with Tekla Structures.
- Experience producing fabrication, assembly and erection drawings.
- A good understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings.
- Experience working to project deadlines and managing your own workload.
Desirable
- Experience on large-scale or technically complex steelwork projects.
- Knowledge of relevant British/European standards.
- Experience producing Tekla fabrication outputs and CNC data.
- Experience dealing with complex steel connections.
- Background working for a major structural steel contractor or fabricator.
Why This Role?
This is not a role where you will be working on the same type of steel package every week.
You will get exposure to major UK projects, technically challenging detailing and a wider project team that understands the importance of getting the detail right.
There is also the opportunity to build on your Tekla experience and progress your career within an established structural steel business with a strong project pipeline.
