This role is a key part of the successful delivery of structural steelwork projects from design intent through to fabrication and site installation. The successful Tekla Detailer will be responsible for producing accurate and fully coordinated 3D models and fabrication drawings, working closely with engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and site installation teams.
You will play an important role in ensuring that engineering designs are translated into buildable, efficient, and accurate steelwork packages that meet project specifications, programme requirements, and fabrication standards.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed 3D models of structural steelwork using Tekla Structures
- Generate accurate general arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings
- Develop detailed connection designs and shop drawings in line with engineering specifications
- Liaise closely with structural engineers, architects, and project teams to resolve design queries
- Coordinate steelwork models with other trades to ensure clash-free design solutions
- Prepare material lists, bolt lists, and CNC data for fabrication
- Ensure all detailing work complies with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and project specifications
- Amend and revise models and drawings in line with engineer and client comments
- Attend coordination and design meetings as required
- Support fabrication and site teams by resolving technical detailing issues
- Maintain accurate project documentation and revision control throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure delivery of detailing packages in line with agreed project programmes
- Previous experience as a Tekla Detailer within the structural steelwork industry
- Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures software
- Excellent understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
- Good knowledge of steel connections and detailing principles
- Familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively to deadlines and manage multiple projects
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a project team environment
- Experience producing fabrication-ready drawing packages
