This is an opportunity to join an established structural steel specialist with more than 75 years of industry experience, delivering projects ranging from straightforward building frames through to complex and technically demanding structures across the UK and Europe.

With significant fabrication capacity and an experienced workforce behind them, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality structural steelwork.

Now they're looking for an Estimator who can play a key role in identifying opportunities, developing competitive tenders and helping turn enquiries into successful projects.

The Role

As an Estimator, you'll take responsibility for the enquiry and tender process, assessing opportunities from a commercial and technical perspective.

You'll work from detailed drawings and specifications to prepare accurate estimates, while liaising with clients and internal departments to ensure tenders are delivered effectively and on time.

You'll also have an important role in maintaining existing client relationships and supporting the development of new business opportunities.

This is more than a numbers role.

You'll be involved in the conversations that determine which projects the business pursues, how they are priced and ultimately what gets won.

  • Managing the enquiry process and identifying commercially viable schemes
  • Preparing detailed and accurate estimates for clients
  • Working from drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Managing the estimating and tender process from enquiry through to submission
  • Liaising closely with clients throughout the tender process
  • Working collaboratively with estimating, engineering, commercial and operational teams
  • Maintaining and developing existing client relationships
  • Supporting the development of new client relationships and business opportunities
  • Managing a varied workload while working to tight deadlines
  • Ensuring estimates are commercially competitive and technically sound
  • What You'll Bring
  • Previous experience within an estimating role
  • Practical understanding of the structural steel estimating process
  • Experience working from detailed drawings and specifications
  • A commercially aware and customer-focused approach
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deal confidently with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines
  • A relevant technical or engineering qualification would be advantageous
  • Previous experience within structural steel would be highly desirable
