An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established structural steel contractor. This is a key leadership role overseeing the full lifecycle delivery of structural steel installation projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and commercially controlled execution across a high-profile nuclear infrastructure programme.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage structural steel installation projects from planning through to completion
- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project programmes and lookahead plans
- Coordinate site activities, trades, subcontractors, and fabrication interfaces
- Review and interpret structural drawings, erection sequences, and construction methodologies
- Liaise with clients, engineers, designers, and internal teams to ensure full project alignment
- Manage project documentation including contracts, RFIs, variations, and work packages
- Monitor budgets, costs, and financial performance in collaboration with commercial teams
- Chair site meetings and provide clear progress reporting internally and to clients
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across site operations
- Resolve technical, logistical, and construction issues quickly and effectively
- Act as the key link between site operations and fabrication/workshop teams
- Oversee quality control and ensure successful project handover and completion
You’ll need:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Manager within structural steel, steel erection, or heavy construction
- Strong technical understanding of steel fabrication, erection methods, and site operations
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and erection plans
- Experience using planning tools such as Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in contract administration and cost control (QS coordination)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with Trimble / Trimble Connect (essential)
- Competence in Bluebeam or similar PDF mark-up tools
- Valid driving licence and willingness to be site-based full time
- CSCS / SMSTS (or equivalent site safety certification)
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar (desirable)
- NEBOSH / IOSH qualification (desirable)
- Experience with BIM / Tekla Structures and crane lift planning (desirable)
