The Company
The steel leaving this business doesn't stay in the workshop for long.
It becomes part of commercial buildings, industrial developments and major construction projects across the UK, with a steady pipeline of work keeping the detailing team busy.
This is a structural steel specialist where detailing is an important part of getting those projects from design through to fabrication. They're now looking for a Tekla Detailer who wants to be part of that process and take ownership of their work from model through to fabrication.
The Role
You will:
- Build and develop accurate 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures.
- Produce fabrication and general arrangement drawings that give the workshop exactly what it needs.
- Work closely with engineers, estimators and project teams to resolve issues before they reach fabrication.
- Take ownership of your packages, from the initial model through to final drawings.
- Review designs and identify clashes, inconsistencies and detailing issues early.
- Work on a range of structural steel projects rather than producing the same drawings week after week.
The Candidate
You will need:
- Practical experience using Tekla Structures within a structural steel environment.
- Experience producing fabrication drawings for structural steelwork.
- An understanding of how steelwork is fabricated and assembled — not just how it looks on screen.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
It would also be useful if you have:
- Experience working on commercial, industrial or other complex structural steel projects.
- Experience dealing directly with engineers, project managers or fabrication teams.
The important part is that you can take a structural steel design and turn it into something that can actually be fabricated.
The Benefits
- Permanent position with a specialist structural steel business.
- A consistent pipeline of structural steel projects.
- Opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting packages.
- A role where your detailing experience is valued rather than treated as simply producing drawings.
- Scope to develop your technical knowledge and take on greater responsibility.
