The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to work on major UK construction and infrastructure projects, managing the commercial aspects of complex structural steel packages from contract award through to final account. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong commercial control throughout the project lifecycle. This role is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor with proven structural steelwork experience who enjoys working on technically challenging projects within a fast-paced fabrication and construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of structural steelwork projects from award through to final account
- Prepare and manage project cost reports, forecasts, and valuations
- Administer applications for payment, variations, and change control
- Procure and manage subcontractors and supplier packages
- Monitor project costs and identify commercial risks and opportunities
- Work closely with project managers, design teams, and site teams to ensure commercial performance
- Assist in negotiating contracts and resolving commercial issues with clients and contractors
About You
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the structural steelwork sector
- Strong understanding of fabrication, erection, and construction processes
- Experience managing commercial aspects of steelwork or specialist subcontract packages
- Knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC or JCT
- Commercially aware with strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
