This role plays a key part in securing and delivering structural steelwork projects across a range of sectors. The successful Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders, working closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to support business growth and project success from the earliest stages.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for structural steelwork projects
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Quantify steelwork packages and assess labour, material, and subcontractor costs
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and project teams throughout the tender process
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
- Support handovers to project delivery teams following successful bids
- Maintain accurate estimating records and tender documentation
✅ Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous estimating experience within the structural steelwork industry
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Good understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
- Experience preparing competitive tenders for structural steel projects
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software packages
