West Dean College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Subject Leader to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of our Fine Art, BA (Hons) Art and Contemporary Craft and BA Craft Practices programmes.

About the role

Working closely with academic colleagues, you will play a key role in delivering an inspiring and contemporary curriculum. Through teaching, tutorials, contextual studies, assessment and academic support, you will help students develop their individual creative practice, critical thinking, technical skills and professional aspirations. You will also contribute to programme development, quality assurance, student recruitment and wider engagement activities, working collaboratively with colleagues, visiting practitioners and industry professionals to enrich the student experience. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next generation of artists and makers within a vibrant, specialist and supportive arts environment.

About you

You will be an enthusiastic and committed educator and creative practitioner with a strong understanding of contemporary art, craft and creative practice. You will have experience of teaching and supporting learners and be passionate about helping emerging artists and makers develop their creative, critical and professional skills. Organised, collaborative and proactive, you will build positive relationships with students, colleagues and external partners. Above all, you will share West Dean College’s commitment to creativity, inclusion and an outstanding student experience.
