MotorSport Vision is looking for experienced, hands‑on Mechanics to join a close‑knit Engineering team working across the company’s wide range of automotive projects. This includes a new and confidential race car programme, planned to go live in 2027 / 2028, as well as GB3, GB4 and PalmerSport. This is a rare opportunity to support race car programmes from advanced R&D through to on‑track delivery, overseeing dedicated test cars while also supporting the development of the high performance PalmerSport fleet.
Duties
- Preparation, maintenance and ongoing development of test cars, ensuring they are built, set‑up, presented and run to the highest standards.
- Support R&D activity including car build, component fitment, instrumentation, fault finding, strip/inspect/rebuild cycles and test‑day readiness.
- Work closely with engineers and key stakeholders to deliver efficient turnaround of modifications and clear feedback from test running.
- Lead on workshop organisation, reporting findings, build documentation, parts control and ensuring critical spares and consumables are available for test activity.
- Attend and support track tests as required, delivering professional, calm and methodical operation under time pressure, supervising others.
- Assist with the maintenance, preparation and evolutions of the PalmerSport fleet, helping to keep vehicles safe, reliable and presented to guest‑facing standards.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, health & safety and compliance standards at all times within the Bedford Autodrome workshop.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a No.1 or No.2 mechanic within motorsport, track testing or high‑performance automotive environments.
- Experience in professional‑level motorsport working on both single‑seater racing cars and GT or sports racing cars.
- Strong background working on high performance cars (race, track, OEM performance or specialist builds), with excellent mechanical aptitude, having extensive experience and training, and having the highest attention to detail.
- Confident in full vehicle preparation: car build, set‑up, pre/post‑event checks, servicing, strip‑down and rebuild.
- Exceptional fault‑finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems; experience with data/diagnostics and instrumentation is advantageous.
- Highly organised with a disciplined approach to record keeping, parts, tools, build sheets and quality control.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines, adapting to changing priorities and maintaining focus under pressure.
- Professional, discreet and trustworthy - able to work on a confidential programme and maintain strict information control.
- Full UK driving licence; willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends and travel to UK and EU circuits for testing as required.
- Experience driving larger vans, towing trailers, 7.5t trucks and similar. A class 1 or class 2 licence is not essential but would be an advantage.
In return, MotorSport Vision offers:
- Competitive pay + benefits.
- Up to 31 days holiday per year.
- Access to discounts via our MSV Hub.
- A pass for yourself and a friend to attend all events hosted at MSV circuits across the country.
- Discounted food and drink when working on site.
- A workplace pension.
- Free onsite parking.
- Training opportunities.
We currently have two positions available within the team: a No.1 and a No.2. Both roles will be based full‑time at our Bedford Autodrome facility, with travel to UK and European race circuits. Please note that at least a full UK driving licence is essential due to both the responsibilities of the role and the location of the site.
