A great opportunity has arisen for a versatile and hardworking Mechanic to join the PalmerSport team at Bedford Autodrome. This hands-on role is based within the Engineering team and involves the maintenance, preparation, and repair of our diverse fleet of high-performance vehicles, consisting of McLaren Artura GT4s, Formula 3000 single-seaters, Ginetta G56s, bespoke JP-LMs, and Caterhams, along with a range of event support and site maintenance vehicles.
The Engineering team at PalmerSport play a key role in ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance, enabling us to deliver market-leading motorsport events for both retail and corporate guests. The role requires a strong mechanical background, adaptability, and a proactive approach to working in a fast-paced motorsport environment.
Job duties will include:
- Maintaining to the highest standards the PalmerSport event vehicle fleet and preparing vehicles for event days
- Conducting thorough inspections of our high-performance vehicles on the completion of our corporate events
- Working with our Engineering team to determine the source of mechanical and electrical problems and work to solve issues efficiently and comprehensively
- Completing job cards to a very high standard to detail a vehicle repair and service history
- Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor with diagnosis and parts required to rectify issues
- Completing diagnostic testing on the mechanical and electrical systems
You will have:
- A good understanding of mechanical engineering with a recognised qualification i.e. City and Guilds
- Previous experience working with high performance / race spec vehicles as any race team car preparation experience will be highly valued in this role
- Full UK driving licence
- A flexible attitude to working hours as there will be late finishes as well as evening and weekend working required in this role
- Pride in your work and want to complete tasks to the best of your ability
- A track record of meeting strict deadlines
