We are currently seeking an Architectural Technician to join our group, based at our Donington Park, Leicestershire office. This is an exciting new opportunity to join our established project team on our ongoing Donington Hall project, where we are undertaking a spectacular, multi-million-pound redevelopment of this 1790 Grade II* listed property to transform it into a superb 49-bedroom luxury hotel, reinstating the historic association with the Donington Park motor racing circuit. Whether your passion is architecture, heritage buildings, hospitality, or motorsport, you’ll be part of a team helping to contribute to a project that combines all four.
In addition to the hotel, and as part of the wider estate and our aspirations to create an exceptional product, we are also developing the following:
- The Motorhouse: adjacent to the hotel, Hastings House is a 4,500m2 facility, which aims to be the UK’s most prestigious stabling facility for supercars and classic road and racing cars and will include extensive conference facilities.
- The Walled Garden: recently-acquired, the walled garden historically formed part of the hall estate and we are now looking to reestablish this impressive feature, providing produce for the hotel, casual eating and events, and other leisure activities for hotel guests.
- Lansdowne Spa: on top of the above, we have plans to redevelop part of the Lansdowne building into a spa and swimming pool, further adding to and enhancing the guest experience.
The role involves working directly with the project team, consultants, and contractors. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating drawing packages, producing detailed CAD drawings, coordinating design information and ensuring project documentation remains accurate throughout the construction phases, through to opening and accepting guests. Key responsibilities:
- Updating and maintaining AutoCAD drawing packages (DWG format)
- Producing architectural, interior and technical drawings
- Recording and incorporating site changes into drawing sets
- Coordinating information between architects, engineers, consultants and contractors
- Producing measured surveys and as-built drawings where required
- Assisting with drawing reviews and design coordination meetings
- Managing drawing revisions and document control
- Supporting the wider project team with technical drawing requirements across the estate
Essential requirements:
- Fully proficient in AutoCAD
- Previous experience within an architectural, construction or technical design environment
- Strong understanding of architectural drawings and detailing
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Full UK driving licence
- Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Donington Park and be available to attend site whenever required
Desirable requirements:
- Experience working on heritage, listed building or hospitality projects
- Deep understanding of construction processes and coordination
Working Arrangements:
- The role is being offered as full time and we will consider candidates looking for employment or engagement as a contractor. You should indicate your preference as part of your application.
- Hybrid working available, with the potential to work from home occasionally depending on project demands.
- Regular attendance at Donington Hall and site meetings will be required.
- Salary dependent upon experience.
