Novara People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Halifax for a Semi-Skilled Engineer. Our client manufactures high-quality metal components and fabricated products supplied to a variety of industries across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking for someone with previous engineering or fabrication experience to join their workshop team. This role would suit someone who has worked within an engineering or manufacturing environment and is looking to develop their skills further within a busy and supportive workshop.

Duties:

  • Assisting with the manufacture and assembly of metal components
  • Reading and working from basic engineering drawings
  • Measuring, marking out and preparing materials
  • Operating hand and power tools safely
  • Grinding, deburring and finishing fabricated parts
  • Drilling, cutting and preparing materials for production
  • Supporting Fabricators and Welders with day-to-day workshop activities
  • Operating workshop machinery following training
  • Carrying out quality checks on completed work
  • Loading, unloading and moving materials around the workshop
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Following all health and safety procedures

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience within an engineering, fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Confident using hand and power tools
  • Able to read basic engineering drawings (preferred)
  • Good attention to detail
  • Practical and hands-on approach to work
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop within the business
  • FLT or overhead crane experience would be advantageous but is not essential
