Our client are looking to recruit an Assistant Team Leader to support the day-to-day running of production operations within a food manufacturing environment. Reporting into the Team Leader, and ultimately the Production Supervisors and Production Manager, this role plays a key part in ensuring production runs smoothly, safely and to the required standards.
Pay: £14.00ph increasing to £14.92ph after training usually between 3-6 months.
Working Hours: Sunday - Thursday 6am - 3:30pm. Must be available to work 6 days per week and weekends over busier periods. Overtime available.
This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone who can lead by example, support and motivate a team, and step up to run production when required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the Team Leader in the day-to-day running of production
- Step up to lead the team and run production in the Team Leader's absence
- Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and production speeds
- Monitor and report on production performance, issues and improvements
- Mentor, support and help train team members across different levels
- Ensure traceability, stock rotation and product specifications are followed
- Report any quality, food safety or health & safety concerns immediately
- Stop production if required and escalate issues where necessary
- Complete relevant paperwork including daily records, cleaning schedules and other documentation
- Ensure all staff are fit for work and complete return-to-work processes where required
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Support across different departments as required
- Communicate effectively with staff, visitors and contractors at all times
- Ensure company policies, food hygiene and health & safety procedures are followed
- Take responsibility for site security when required (e.g. locking up)
- Be flexible to meet the needs of the business, including working varied hours when needed
Skills Required:
- Previous experience within a production or food manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting or supervising a team is desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels
- Good understanding of health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Proactive approach with the ability to identify improvements
- Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic
- Confident in handling responsibility and making decisions when required
