Novara Media is looking for a Westminster Correspondent to work with us three days a week on a freelance basis in the run up and aftermath of the May elections. This is a front-facing role, working across written, video and social media formats.
Key responsibilities:
- To generate ideas for and write original, impactful stories and analysis around the May elections (minimum one per week)
- To promote original reporting across Novara Media’s video output (e.g. Novara Live) and social media channels
- To promote reporting via contacts within the wider political and media spheres
The ideal candidate should have:
- Significant experience as a political journalist and a track record of breaking stories
- An interest in and understanding of party politics across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
- Strong contacts in all the major parties, especially Labour, Reform and the Greens
- The ability to write fast, clean and engaging copy
- Knowledge of journalistic good practice and media law
- Experience presenting video journalism
- A strong or developing social media following
- The ability to form professional relationships quickly and build trust with sources
- Alignment with Novara Media’s aims and values

- Reports to: Head of Articles
- Contract: Six weeks from 6 April
- Hours: 24 hours per week
- Pay: £25.50 per hour (NM flat freelance rate)
