We are looking for a technically proficient, politically engaged Assistant Producer / Video Editor to support the production and delivery of Novara Live, our daily news Youtube show, and to create assets and clips. Working closely with the producers, presenters, and wider editorial team, the role combines live production support, content creation, and postâproduction tasks across video, audio, and digital platforms. This is a handsâon role suited to someone comfortable working in a fastâpaced live news environment, with strong technical skills, sound editorial judgement, and a collaborative approach. This role includes regular evening work and occasional weekend work aligned with live broadcast schedule. This is not a flexible working role and is permanently based in our studios in London. This is a partâtime role.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, log, and edit bâroll packages to support live segments and breaking news coverage.
- Assist with factâchecking processes before and during live output to ensure editorial accuracy.
- Contribute ideas and research to content planning and editorial discussions.
- Edit and publish podcast versions of livestreams, ensuring timely delivery and consistent quality.
- Create compelling shortâform video clips from live content for social media platforms.
- Write accurate and engaging descriptions, headlines, and captions where required.
- Create, update, and manage onâscreen graphics, lower thirds, and visual assets for live shows.
- Ensure graphics are accurate, clear, and aligned with editorial and brand guidelines.
- Create visually distinctive thumbnails.
- Attend team meetings and actively contribute to planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support additional editorial or production projects as needed, including special broadcasts or investigations.
- Work collaboratively across teams, maintaining clear communication in highâpressure situations.
- Actively work to maximise reach of Novara live products.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working in live broadcast, livestreaming, or digital news production.
- Confidence using livestream software, video editing tools, graphic editing software and audio equipment. Namely Premiere Pro / Resolve, Photoshop, After Effects, Audition, Izotope, Figma.
- CMS and copy editing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to editorial accuracy.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and adapt quickly during live output.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Interest in news, current affairs, and digital storytelling.
- Genuine understanding of and commitment to independent, left media.

Details
- Location: The successful candidate will be required to work in our London studio. This is not a remote job.
- Reports to: Head of Video.
- Contract: Permanent, partâtime.
- Hours: 16 hours per week. Please note this role will involve regular evening work.
- Pay: ÂŁ18,720 per annum, equivalent to ÂŁ22.50 per hour (NM flat living wage).
