Summary

This job is responsible for stock management, sourcing and procurement of parts, purchasing KPIs and the timely availability of all components required to build products, and managing change within the supply chain.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Stock Management of components and subcontract services.
  • Responsible for the procurement of optical, electronic and mechanical components; ensuring procurement of goods at the best price and delivery and highest quality.
  • Responsible for the procurement of subcontracting services, consumables, capital equipment and ad hoc purchases.
  • Responsible for the management, availability, and the issue of free-issue stock to subcontractors.
  • Responsibility for supply chain improvement/setup projects, including R&D and new product introduction support, for both the introduction of new platforms and managing change in current Bills of Material.
  • Inventory management for purchased products, ensuring optimum inventory levels to ensure supply continuity, while maintaining a reasonable level of inventory liability to the company.
  • Supplier Evaluation, Selection and Management: Evaluate and select suppliers using global audit and qualification processes., manage relationships, and drive performance improvements.
  • Product and Process Development: Work with suppliers to develop and qualify their product/process.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform in-depth quality system assessments to confirm supplier structure, level of lean implementation, and effectiveness of the quality management system.
  • Responsible for collating and reporting performance of the Purchasing function (KPI driven).
  • Support and develop Assistant Buyer role in daily task management.
  • Support on Supplier quality management and NPI project introduction.
  • Any ad hoc duties commensurate with the role.

General Tasks

  • Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
  • Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Ability to evaluate and select suppliers, manage relationships, and drive performance improvements.
  • CIPS qualifications preferred.
  • Degree/Graduate calibre (desirable).
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance techniques
  • Procurement of electrical, mechanical and optical components, advantageous.
  • International trade, Incoterms and customs compliance.
  • PC literate, including MRP software and MS Office suite.
