We are working with a leading consultancy business who are looking for a Data Centre Electrical Subject Matter Expert. The Electrical SME will manage, review, coordinate, and provide key technical input during site due diligence, detailed design, and construction administration phases of datacentre projects. This role will ensure the delivery of electrical infrastructure systems aligned with project and operational requirements.
The Electrical SME will:
- Lead design and coordination of LV/HV electrical systems
- Oversee UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and power distribution architecture
- Provide expertise in redundancy models (N+1, 2N, 2N+1) and resilience strategies
- Review and approve electrical drawings, load calculations, and specifications
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, BS, and local electrical standards
- Support capacity planning and energy efficiency strategies
- Collaborate with mechanical, telecom, and architectural teams
- Support commissioning (Levels 1–5) and operational readiness
- Engage with vendors and contractors for equipment selection and implementation
Skills and Qualifications:
- Successful candidates will lead and direct electrical engineering consultants in the design and coordination of mission-critical electrical systems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Deep expertise in datacentre electrical infrastructure
- Strong understanding of critical power systems and uptime requirements
- Ability to manage complex, high-value projects in fast-paced environments
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead engineering teams and manage multiple concurrent projects
- Experience in electrical engineering (consulting or design)
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a lead electrical engineer or SME role within datacentre or mission-critical environments
