This position plays a key role in ensuring that contractual obligations are effectively managed, risks are controlled, and commercial decisions are well governed from tender stage through to final delivery.
You will act as a central point of expertise for contractual matters, supporting project teams while also helping to shape internal standards, processes, and best practice across the business.
Key responsibilities- Review contract terms and commercial conditions during tender and pre-award stages
- Provide strategic input during negotiations with clients and supply chain partners
- Support project delivery teams with ongoing contractual and commercial guidance
- Oversee contract compliance across multiple live projects
- Develop, maintain, and improve internal contract frameworks, templates, and guidance materials
- Track and monitor contractual obligations, variations, and key risks across projects
- Assist in resolving contractual issues, including claims and disputes where required
- Deliver internal training sessions to improve commercial and contractual awareness across teams
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance and reporting systems
- Degree qualified in Law, Construction Law, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- Strong background in construction contract management within a main contractor or similar environment
- Proven experience dealing with contract negotiation, risk allocation, and claims matters
- Comfortable interpreting complex contractual provisions and explaining them clearly to non-legal stakeholders
- Experience working with standard forms such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC or similar frameworks
