Novakid is an international English language school for children aged 4-12 years, allowing them to learn a foreign language remotely according to a teaching programme that meets European CEFR standards with their English-speaking peers. We are looking for a skilled and academically grounded ESL Methodologist to support the development, alignment, and continuous improvement of our curriculum and learning content. This role focuses on strengthening pedagogical quality, ensuring CEFR alignment, and supporting the content team with clear, research-based guidance.

The Methodologist works collaboratively with writers, designers, and project managers to ensure all materials meet high educational standards and are appropriate for age and level.

Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum & Content Review: Review existing ESL curriculum and learning materials. Identify areas for improvement and suggest clear, practical enhancements. Ensure logical progression, scaffolding, and age-appropriate design.
  • CEFR & Standards Alignment: Act as a CEFR alignment expert. Ensure curricula, Scope & Sequences, lesson content, and assessments align with CEFR descriptors and age-appropriate can-do statements. Support teams in applying CEFR consistently across products. Assist with level validation and alignment checks when developing new materials.
  • Content Development Support: Contribute ideas for engaging, pedagogically sound content. Provide methodological input during course and lesson development. Support writers with clear guidance on structure, flow, and learning objectives.
  • Academic Grounding: Ensure instructional decisions are supported by sound ESL methodology and research. Provide references or explanations where necessary to strengthen pedagogical choices.
  • Quality Review: Evaluate lessons and materials for methodological soundness, clarity of learning objectives, appropriate cognitive load, logical task sequencing, and accuracy and clarity in Teacher Notes.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Participate in internal discussions about methodology and best practices. Share insights and contribute to the continuous improvement of content quality. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between pedagogy, content, and execution.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a relevant Master’s degree, preferably higher in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in ESL curriculum design, methodology, or content development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CEFR alignment, curriculum mapping, and level validation.
  • Strong understanding of ESL methodologies (e.g., communicative approaches, task-based learning, scaffolding principles).
  • Exceptional command of English, with the ability to explain methodological concepts clearly and practically.
  • Experience collaborating with writers, editors, or cross-functional educational teams.
Desired:
  • Experience working in an international or multicultural team.
  • Experience in online learning, edtech, or digital ESL content development.
  • Familiarity with Cambridge exam alignment (Movers, Flyers, etc.).
