To continue to develop, build and assist in delivery of the Horbury District Men’s Shed project, creating a welcoming, inclusive, and productive space for men to connect, socialise, and participate in woodworking and other hands-on activities that promote wellbeing and reduce isolation. Under the supervision of the Centre Manager, to monitor and evaluate the service.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Men’s Shed, including coordinating sessions and managing tools, equipment, and materials.
- Recruit, support and manage volunteers and participants, ensuring the project is inclusive, safe, and welcoming.
- Train volunteers to run and manage sessions in the future, including adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Work with partner organisations and local agencies to promote referrals and raise awareness of the project.
- Manage project budget and maintain accurate records, reporting regularly to the management team.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies.
- Support monitoring and evaluation activity, collecting feedback and contributing to reports for funders and stakeholders.
- Contribute to publicity, promotion, and community outreach to grow the Shed’s membership and visibility through printed and digital materials.
Person Specification
- Experience of working with volunteers and/or community-based groups.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A friendly, approachable, and inclusive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and manage own time.
- Basic DIY or workshop experience (or willingness to learn).
- Commitment to the values of inclusion, equality, and community wellbeing.
- Excellent IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft packages and familiarity with desktop publishing software e.g. Canva as well as comfort in using social media.
- Experience of managing community projects.
- Knowledge of Men’s Shed movement and/or work with older men.
- First Aid training or Health & Safety awareness.
- Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for funders.
