Key Responsibilities:
  • Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of children aged 0-5 years, ensuring all meals are visually appealing and age-appropriate.
  • Menu Planning: Develop seasonal menus that adhere to nutritional guidelines, incorporate fresh and locally sourced ingredients, and consider allergies and dietary restrictions. Assistance is available with this.
  • Food Safety: Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety in accordance with health regulations, including proper storage, preparation, and cooking practices.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring the kitchen area is kept clean and organised.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with nursery staff to understand children’s needs and preferences.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, and participate in inspections as required.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a chef/Kitchen Assistant preferably in a childcare or educational setting would be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene standards and health regulations.
  • Passion for cooking and an understanding of nutrition for young children.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
