A growing business is looking for a Quality Control Technician with experience of controlling quality in a busy factory environment. You must have good attention to detail and an understanding of maintaining quality standards, whilst being reliable in both attendance and punctuality. We are looking for someone who has an appreciation of the meat processing environment, flexibility and a willingness to learn!

As Quality Control Technician, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Daily: Providing continuous online quality review of product to ensure no substandard packs are despatched on designated line. Label checking - this may require both checking of the label and changing label reels as required. General quality checks and paperwork completion. Weight checks from the line and paperwork completion. Residual Oxygen checks and paperwork completion. Conducting Metal Detector checks and paperwork completion. Responsible for all due diligence paperwork in area of focus during working hours. Completion at all times, checking and ensuring there are no gaps from all the areas assigned. Periodic review of designated areas on an ongoing basis. Ensuring 100% cover of all at risk production runs (as defined by managers or the technical department).
  • Weekly: Gas analyser calibration and documentation. Probe calibration and documentation. Chemical titration to ensure adequate concentrations of chemicals as relevant. GMP audit and documentation as required. Collection of micro and organoleptic samples as scheduled.
  • Monthly: Completion of monthly micro/chemical sampling schedule. Tbar/data logger calibration. Glass and plastics audit. Metal detection records for plasters and other metal detectable consumables. Complete audit on first aid box.

The ideal Quality Control Technician:

  • Experience of working within a high-risk chilled food handling environment.
  • Specific QC or Quality Monitoring experience.
  • Ability to influence a manufacturing environment, to affect positive changes.
  • Knowledge of and experience with BRCGS audits.
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)/Good Hygiene Practice (GHP) and control of food contamination.

You will be working either 5 days, Sunday-Thursday, 07:00-17:00 OR, 4 days, i.e., Sunday-Wednesday, with Sunday, 07:00-17:00 and Monday-Wednesday, 06:00-18:00. You will receive a salary starting from £12.75 per hour, rising to up to £13.75/hr once probation is passed also dependent on experience.
