Seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team at Chester Law. Chester Law is a full-service law firm located in the heart of Chester on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of practice areas, with a primary focus on criminal law, family law, civil litigation, residential tenancies, and employment law. It is an excellent position for someone who enjoys diverse, fast-paced, and engaging legal work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other things:
- Drafting, proofreading, and compiling court documents, contracts, forms, and correspondence in an accurate and efficient manner;
- Communicating with clients by phone, email, and in person to collect information and coordinate meetings with the legal team;
- Managing deadlines, court dates, and closing dates across multiple files;
- Assisting with data entry and billing;
- Performing general office and clerical duties;
- Carrying out other related duties as required.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- An interest in family law, criminal law, and civil litigation;
- Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience working with Clio is considered an asset;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
- The ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks;
- Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
