About the Role
We are looking for reliable and safety-conscious HGV Drivers / Crew Leaders to join the team. The role involves operating heavy goods vehicles, carrying out daily vehicle safety checks, leading a small crew and delivering a high-quality service to residents. You will be working in a physically demanding environment and must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Key Requirements
- Valid Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence and Driver Qualification Card (CPC) β essential.
- 3.5-tonne to 7.5-tonne driving experience is also required.
- Experience carrying out vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance to ensure vehicles remain legally roadworthy.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures and road safety when working in traffic and public environments.
- Experience or ability to lead a small crew, provide clear instructions and manage daily performance.
- Competent using in-cab systems, electronic devices and software to record service delivery, incidents and relevant information.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and interact professionally with members of the public.
- Flexible and physically fit, with the ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and in all weather conditions.
- A strong commitment to cleanliness, safety and high service standards, representing the Council professionally at all times.
