Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to SLT and relevant HOYs and lead safeguarding across the school, including attending weekly Senior Leadership Meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely support records, including safeguarding information, and monitor profiles in line with audit requirements and data protection.
  • Obtain pupil statements to investigate incidents.
  • Signpost students and their parents/carers to relevant specialists or other agencies as appropriate.
  • Raise concerns in line with confidentiality and data protection, including any areas of concern to the safeguarding team.
  • Meet with students over whom there are concerns and contact home where necessary in conjunction with the appropriate staff.
  • Represent the school at meetings with external agencies as appropriate.
  • Support pupils in crisis.
  • Act as a point of reference for parental communication.
  • Support in completion of referrals and liaison with outside agencies such as Social Care, CAMHS, Police, School Nurse, SEND provision and others as appropriate.
  • Work with Senior Leaders to promote and develop the culture of safeguarding across the school, with staff and students.
  • Attend all formal meetings in relation to a student in your case load i.e. professionals' meetings; reintegration meetings; PEP meetings etc.
  • Record and carry out the main action points agreed at these meetings and disseminate effectively to DSL team.
  • Attend Parents Evenings and support with these events.
