As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Head Teacher for Behaviour and Culture will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the academy.
You will lead excellence in behaviour, culture and attitudes, fostering a positive, safe and aspirational culture in which every student feels valued, supported and able to thrive.
In addition, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to wider system improvement by working alongside the Head Teacher to support other schools through the RISE Behaviour and Attendance Hub, sharing expertise and driving impact beyond our own community.
This post is ideally suited to an experienced Assistant Head Teacher ready to step into Deputy Headship within a school recognised as Outstanding for leadership or an established Deputy Head Teacher seeking to further develop their strategic leadership skills, contribute to trust-wide improvement priorities, and gain meaningful system-level experience in preparation for future headship.
The successful candidate will
- Work in close partnership with the Head Teacher to lead whole-school improvement priorities and contribute to the academy's strategic direction and leadership capacity.
- Provide strategic oversight and operational leadership for behaviour, safeguarding, admissions and inclusion, ensuring a consistent, equitable and values-driven approach across the school.
- Lead with high visibility, modelling the school's values and expectations through daily interactions, routines and presence, reinforcing a calm, purposeful and respectful learning environment.
- Design, implement and evaluate whole-school behaviour and culture strategies that secure high levels of engagement, positive conduct and strong student attitudes to learning.
- Lead the design, implementation and ongoing development of the academy's tutor programme, ensuring it strengthens relationships, supports pastoral care and promotes personal development.
- Use data intelligently to track behaviour, attendance and safeguarding trends, undertaking robust analysis to identify need, evaluate impact and implement timely, targeted interventions.
- Oversee the academy's alternative provision offer, ensuring high-quality placements, strong monitoring of attendance and progress, and effective reintegration pathways where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral and academic leaders to ensure a cohesive, graduated approach to student support, particularly for vulnerable and at-risk learners.
- Coach, challenge and develop the pastoral team and wider staff, building leadership capacity, sustaining high expectations and promoting reflective, evidence-informed practice.
- Build and sustain strong, trusting partnerships with families, external agencies and trust colleagues to enhance provision, remove barriers and improve outcomes for students.
- Contribute actively to trust-wide and system-level improvement through academy-to-academy support and engagement with the
RISE Behaviour and Attendance Hub , sharing expertise and best practice.
- Champion a school culture that is safe, nurturing, aspirational and ambitious, where inclusion, well-being and high standards are central to daily school life.
This is more than a leadership role-it is an opportunity for an ambitious, values-driven leader to play a central role in shaping behaviour and culture in a school that is both locally rooted and nationally influential.
The successful candidate will have the platform, support and professional trust to make a lasting impact on students, staff and the wider educational community.
The Trust and school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All staff will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with Df E requirements.
