Nova Care Consultants is a multi-award-winning independent health and care service provider, operating seven days a week across England and Wales. Specialising in mental health, forensics, community care, residential/nursing care reports, and capacity assessments, Nova Care delivers expert and impartial services to suit diverse needs.
Role Description
This is an associate specialist post: Associate or Consultant. We are keen to recruit a consultant, but will be open to onboarding an associate. This is a remote position with access to a local coworking hub for co-working, team meetings and client appointments. We require the practitioner to be based in or around Leeds.
The role involves conducting assessments, producing professional care reports and capacity assessments, and collaborating with professionals, families, and clients. The ISW/IOT will support individuals with mental health needs, community care planning, and capacity decision-making under relevant legal and care guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in independent social work, adult social services, and care planning
- Experience in conducting mental health capacity assessments and producing high-grade professional reports for the FtT or Court of Protection
- Exceptional communication, organisation, and critical thinking skills
- In-depth understanding of legal standards, capacity law, and adult social care policies
- Relevant qualification, such as a social work or OT degree; current Social Work England registration is required for ISW and HCPC registration for IOW (if you are a social worker and wish to practice in North Wales, you'll need to be SCW registered)
- Ability to work independently and remotely while meeting deadlines
- Previous experience in mental health or capacity assessing is essential
- Access to own transport (with business insurance)
- 7 years PQE in social work or OT (health or social care)
- Minimal of DipOT or DipSW (or degree) with postgraduate qualifications (highly desirable)
- Working at a senior social work practitioner or assistant team manager grade (or NHS Band 7)
We pay our social workers and OTs at least £40 per hour for work undertaken as an associate, and £45 per hour for consultants. Fixed fees apply to non-hourly work and are agreed upon per assessment/report. We pay travel at 45p per mile (from your work hub or main office location - this may be your home), plus travel time paid hourly (unlike other assessment firms, we pay for your travel time). Around 95% of our work is offered on a fixed-fee arrangement.
