We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Air Conditioning Technical Lead to play a key role within our growing HVAC team. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior AC engineer who enjoys combining hands-on engineering work with mentoring, technical support, and leadership responsibilities.
Based in Bedfordshire, this role offers a unique balance of office-based technical support and field-based engineering. You will act as the primary point of contact for technical guidance across the business, supporting AC improvers, apprentices, and qualified engineers with fault diagnosis, best practices, and complex technical challenges.
The Role
As Technical Lead, you will be the go-to expert for all air conditioning-related technical matters. Your knowledge and experience will help drive high standards across the engineering team while ensuring customers receive exceptional service. This position will involve a mixture of:
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to engineers
- Mentoring apprentices, improvers, and less experienced engineers
- Conducting site visits to assist with complex faults and technical issues
- Supporting installation, service, and maintenance teams
- Assisting with technical training and development programmes
- Reviewing technical reports and ensuring compliance with industry standards
- Working closely with management to improve engineering processes and standards
- Remaining hands-on in the field when required
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience within the air conditioning industry
- Strong knowledge of split systems, VRV/VRF, heat pumps, and commercial AC equipment
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience servicing and maintaining a wide range of manufacturers' equipment
- F-Gas Category 1 certification
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
- A positive and approachable attitude with a passion for developing others
Desirable Experience
- Previous supervisory, lead engineer, or technical support experience
- Experience delivering technical training or toolbox talks
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems
- Relevant HVAC qualifications and certifications
