Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day procurement activities for metallic raw materials, including requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, supplier validation, and the timely resolution of invoice and goods receipt queries.
- Work closely with planning and inventory control to ensure stock levels are effectively managed, late purchase and works orders are expedited, and any risks to the production schedule are identified early and addressed with practical solutions.
- Monitor supplier performance and develop vendor relationships to improve on-time delivery, product quality, lead times, and overall supply reliability, while supporting the use of preferred suppliers and escalating exceptions where required.
- Identify and deliver cost improvement opportunities through supplier analysis, sourcing strategies, supply agreements, and collaboration with engineering on product changes and new product introductions.
- Support continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain activities by managing supply chain risks, updating procedures and work instructions, participating in performance and planning meetings, and contributing to the achievement of on-time delivery, lead-time, and inventory turn targets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Purchasing experience, or relevant manufacturing experience, in a similar environment.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and material specifications.
- Experience using ERP systems such as Sage or Oracle.
- Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage issues through to resolution.
- Good communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in IT skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.
Preferred / Advantageous Qualifications
- Experience sourcing metallic raw materials such as steel, alloys, forgings, castings, and plate.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or supply chain environment supporting production schedules.
- Knowledge of supplier performance management, vendor development, and supply agreements.
- Experience identifying cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities within procurement or supply chain operations.
