About the Role

As a CAD/CAM Apprentice, you'll join the CAD Team within Advanced Design and Manufacturing (ADAM) Engineering Services at our Plymouth site. Working alongside experienced CAD Engineers, you'll support the creation of 3D models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation while contributing to a variety of engineering projects. Through structured training, mentoring and practical experience, you'll develop the technical knowledge and confidence needed to progress your career within NOV.

Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D CAD models and engineering drawings with the support and guidance of experienced CAD Engineers.
  • Prepare fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation to support engineering projects.
  • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) from CAD models and drawings.
  • Apply NOV drafting standards, Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs) and Business Management System (BMS) requirements.
  • Support engineering projects while developing knowledge of NOV products, manufacturing processes and engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the CAD, Engineering and Project teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining engineering documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and training activities.
  • Work in accordance with NOV's Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science.
  • A genuine interest in engineering, design or manufacturing.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Design & Technology (DT), Engineering or a related subject studied at school or college.
  • Exposure to CAD software through education, personal projects, hobbies or work experience.
  • Experience gained through engineering, manufacturing or design-related projects.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings .
  • Interest in manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
