As a Skilled CNC Machinist at NOV Greengate, you will be responsible for operating and controlling numerically controlled (CNC) machines to produce high-quality components with precision and accuracy. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-performance machine shop environment.

You will be involved in the full machining process—from setup and programming adjustments to inspection and troubleshooting—while ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with company standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality parts on CNC machines in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
  • Perform machine set-ups, adjustments, and first article inspections on production runs
  • Load parts using overhead lifting equipment and operate CNC controls
  • Set offsets, perform simple program edits, de-burr, and inspect components to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Monitor machine operations and identify malfunctions or deviations, adjusting controls as required
  • Interpret engineering drawings, job orders, and measurement data to determine tooling and machining requirements
  • Apply knowledge of cutting parameters including feed rates, speeds, and tooling selection
  • Maintain a clean, organised work area and perform basic preventative maintenance
  • Support continuous improvement and general departmental activities
  • Ensure full compliance with NOV Quality and HSE policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties in line with business needs

Essential Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship in CNC machining (e.g., City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent)
  • Experience operating a variety of CNC machines
  • Experience working in a high-productivity machine shop environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Understanding of manual handling, slinging, and lifting practices
  • Awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proven CNC machining experience
  • Manual machining experience
  • Multi-axis CNC machining experience
  • CNC programming knowledge (e.g., Mazatrol, Fanuc controls)
