Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:

Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and the Midstream engineering organization throughout the quotation, contract review, and order entry process.

Review customer specifications, technical requirements, and contractual documentation to identify technical clarifications, commercial exceptions, and engineering risks prior to order release.

Work directly with customers, EPC contractors, and Sales to obtain all necessary technical clarifications, specification interpretations, approvals, and waivers required for successful project execution.

Negotiate technically acceptable alternatives that balance customer requirements with NOV engineering standards, manufacturing capabilities, project schedules, and commercial objectives.

Resolve technical questions and specification discrepancies before project handoff, minimizing engineering involvement in customer clarification activities after order entry.

Ensure customer purchase orders, specifications, deviations, and technical documentation are complete, accurate, and fully aligned before release to Engineering.

Deliver technically complete and commercially aligned "clean orders" to the Engineering team, enabling efficient project execution with minimal clarification cycles.

Coordinate internal technical reviews involving Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Sales to ensure proposed solutions are practical, executable, and profitable.

Evaluate technical and commercial risks associated with customer requirements and recommend mitigation strategies during the quotation and contract review process.

Support Sales during customer meetings, technical bid clarifications, and pre-award negotiations as the regional technical authority.

Review and approve customer technical deviation requests, exception registers, and clarification logs in coordination with Engineering and Product Management.

Monitor engineering feedback and recurring customer issues to identify opportunities for standardization, improved specifications, and reduced engineering workload.

Develop and maintain regional application guidelines, standard technical responses, and approved engineering deviations to improve quotation consistency and execution efficiency.

Support strategic customers throughout project execution when significant technical issues arise, serving as the primary technical liaison between the customer and internal engineering teams.

Provide technical training and mentoring to regional Sales, Applications, and Commercial teams on product capabilities, engineering standards, and customer specifications.

Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, company engineering standards, Quality Management System requirements, and HSE policies.

Facility / Group Specific Responsibilities:

Support the Eastern Hemisphere Sales organization by providing technical application expertise throughout the quotation, contract review, and order entry processes.

Coordinate with Global Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to facilitate the successful transfer of technically complete projects for execution.

Develop and maintain regional application guidelines, customer-specific technical requirements, and standard clarification documentation.

Support regional product training for Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service personnel.

Assist in the continuous improvement of technical review processes to improve order quality and reduce engineering clarification cycles.

Provide technical support during customer visits, factory acceptance tests (FATs), industry events, and regional business development activities as required.

Travel throughout the Eastern Hemisphere to support customers, regional offices, and manufacturing facilities.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent technical education in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent industry experience will be considered. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience supporting engineered-to-order products within the oil and gas industry.
- Demonstrated experience with pressure-containing equipment, pipeline products, or quick opening closures throughout the quotation, manufacturing, testing, installation, or service lifecycle.
- Extensive knowledge of Midstream product applications, customer specifications, manufacturing processes, and field operations.
- Experience working directly with customers, EPC contractors, Sales, and Engineering to resolve technical issues and develop practical solutions.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods including machining, welding, assembly, hydrostatic testing, and inspection.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, contracts, and customer requirements.
