About the Role
As a CNC Machinist, you will play a key role in the precision repair and restoration of critical components, ensuring reliability, safety, and quality across all machining operations. You will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to repair, modify, and recondition parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Manual machining operations may also be required as part of the repair process.
You will ensure that customer and project requirements are achieved efficiently and accurately, delivering high‑quality repaired components that meet NOV’s performance and quality standards. You will work closely with the Shift Supervisor, promoting open communication on machining challenges, safety, and continuous improvement, and contributing ideas to enhance repair methods and workshop efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up, program, operate, and maintain CNC and manual machines including Doosan DBC 110 S, Mazak H630 N, G&L Manual Horizontal Borer, manual lathes, and Bridgeport milling machines.
- Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak) for efficient and accurate machining.
- Machine parts to precise tolerances, ensuring compliance with NOV and customer standards.
- Inspect and assess components to determine repair feasibility and requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and work instructions.
- Monitor and report on quality assurance and control during machining operations.
- Maintain production and quality documentation to ensure accuracy and traceability.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and workshop personnel to optimise workflows.
- Recommend and implement corrective or preventative actions for improved processes.
- Maintain calibration and care of tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Verify dimensions using precision instruments and document inspection outcomes.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Support interdepartmental activities and respond to evolving business needs.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Contribute to process improvements including digitalisation initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Time‑served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or related discipline
- Proven experience in CNC machining; manual machining experience is advantageous
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining processes
- Experience in CNC Programming (Fanuc and Mazak)
- Knowledge of repair and reconditioning machining processes
- Quality inspection, auditing, and testing experience
- Working knowledge of engineering manufacturing environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Solid understanding of machining principles, feeds, speeds, and tooling
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and documentation control
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (ISO, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NACE)
