As a Control Panel Wirer, you will play a vital role within the Electrical Workshop team, supporting the delivery of innovative and world-class solutions for Wireline Systems, Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment, and related machinery. Working under the guidance of the Electrical Chargehand, you will be responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing hazardous and safe area electrical control panels. This role requires a proactive approach to continual improvement, teamwork, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels and sub-assemblies according to bills of materials and diagrams.
- Carry out testing of completed assemblies, including continuity, insulation resistance, and functional tests.
- Maintain accurate records of completed electrical work.
- Conduct inspections of finished control panels to ensure compliance with standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical malfunctions effectively.
- Work collaboratively with team members to foster a positive working environment.
- Seek opportunities for continual improvement in quality and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Electrical Chargehand.
Qualifications & Skills
- Recognized Apprenticeship NC and SVQ Level 3.
- City & Guilds accredited training course.
- Proven experience as a Control Panel Wirer with strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- Experience in testing and troubleshooting control panels.
- Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with Ex D and Ex E control/terminal enclosures.
- Ability to work with different types of computer software.
- HNC or higher in a relevant discipline.
- Valid CompEx Ex01–04 certification.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Knowledge of IEC Standards, EU Directives, CE Marking, ATEX, IECEx, and Norsok.
