I’m working exclusively with a fast-growing Leeds-based MarTech business on their first Head of Technology hire. This is a newly created role, reporting directly into the senior leadership team and working closely with the board.
You’ll take ownership of the full technology function, bringing structure, alignment and clear direction to an environment that is already delivering but has grown across separate streams. The business is around 130 people, with strong capability across proprietary SaaS platforms, a Solutions function and IT / Infrastructure. What’s missing is a single leader to bring it all together.
This role is about unifying that ecosystem. Aligning platform delivery, infrastructure, automation and AI into a cohesive, scalable technology function that supports the next phase of growth. You will have genuine scope to shape how technology operates and how the role evolves as the business continues to scale.
The Role
- You’ll take ownership of the company’s technology ecosystem, ensuring platforms, systems and teams operate as one cohesive function.
- Bring together engineering, platform, solutions and IT under a single, aligned technology strategy.
- Oversee the performance and scalability of proprietary SaaS platforms, ensuring reliability and continuous improvement.
- Lead the Solutions function, translating complex client requirements into scalable, automated workflows.
- Work closely with existing IT leadership to ensure infrastructure, security and resilience support platform growth.
- Drive increased automation across the business, reducing reliance on manual processes and improving efficiency.
- Take ownership of cybersecurity, data governance and compliance, including ISO27001-level standards.
- Drive the practical application of AI across both product and internal processes.
Your experience
- You’re a technology leader who enjoys being close to the detail and working alongside teams. You value being present, understanding how things operate day-to-day and identifying where improvements can be made.
- You’ve operated across multiple areas of a technology function and have experience bringing them together.
- You’re comfortable working closely with engineering teams on platform delivery, and you understand how infrastructure, security and IT support a high-performing technology environment.
- You’ve worked in SaaS or platform-led environments where technology is central to the product, and you’re interested in how platforms can evolve through better engineering practices, automation and the practical use of AI.
- You’re commercially aware and understand the impact of technology decisions on delivery, efficiency and growth.
- You’re confident working with senior stakeholders and helping shape direction.
- You’re comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment where not everything is fully defined and you enjoy building structure, clarity and alignment as the business scales.
What we’re looking for
- Experience leading multiple technology streams across engineering, platform, solutions and IT within a SaaS or technology-led environment.
- Experience bringing teams and systems together under a clear, aligned technology strategy.
- Experience working with engineering teams on platform delivery, architecture and scalability.
- Experience supporting or delivering workflow-driven or client-facing technology platforms.
- Experience applying automation and/or AI to improve processes, products or ways of working.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS).
- Experience working with APIs, integrations and scalable systems.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Location
This role is based in Central Leeds and requires regular on-site presence.
Why this role
- First Head of Technology hire with the opportunity to shape the function.
- Real ownership across platform, solutions and technology direction.
- Board-facing role with influence from day one.
- Strong focus on AI, automation and continuous improvement.
- Opportunity to build structure and scale within a growing business.
We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. If your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement but you feel you could bring value to this role, we’d welcome your application.
