We’re recruiting for a Buyer / Administrator to join a busy surfacing and civil engineering contractor. This is a varied office-based role supporting procurement, logistics planning, invoicing, and compliance across multiple live projects.

The Role

  • Working closely with site and delivery teams, you’ll be responsible for buying materials and plant, coordinating surfacing logistics, and managing high-volume invoice administration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Procurement of materials, plant, and tools; raising and managing purchase orders
  • Negotiating supplier rates and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Pricing bills of materials to support tenders
  • Assisting with weekly surfacing and logistics planning, including plant hire and haulage
  • Coordinating subcontractors, transport, and site operatives
  • Approving and querying material and subcontractor invoices
  • Recording planings, waste, and compliance documentation
  • General office and yard administration, including stock ordering and call handling

About You

  • Previous experience as a Buyer, Procurement Assistant, or Construction Administrator preferred
  • Background in construction, civils, surfacing, or materials buying advantageous
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams
  • Commercially aware and comfortable handling invoices and data
  • IT-literate with experience using procurement or finance systems
