As a Senior Health Care Assistant/Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role within the care team, supporting senior staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care. You will carry out assigned duties on a day-to-day basis, providing compassionate support to residents with all aspects of daily living while actively promoting independence and life skills. You will be responsible for maintaining the safety, wellbeing, dignity, and respect of all residents at all times. This role also involves leading by example, supporting, training, and supervising care staff to ensure consistently outstanding standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emotional and practical support to residents
- Act as a role model and mentor to Support Workers
- Assist with care planning, risk assessments, and daily documentation
- Administer medication in line with policies and training (where trained)
- Promote independence, dignity, and choice at all times
- Support residents with daily living activities and community engagement
- Respond effectively to challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support
- Liaise with families, professionals, and external services
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety standards are upheld

Education and Training:
During your induction into Nouvita, you will undergo a paid e-learning course, as well as a 5-day training programme (also paid) to equip you with everything you need to get started. After-which your continued development will be tailored to your, and the hospitalâs needs.

Experience Required
- At least 2 years experience of working as a Support Worker or Care Assistant within a mental health setting in the UK
- A strong understanding of mental health illness
- Experience of leading/mentoring other care assistants/support workers is beneficial
- An understanding of physical health needs
- An ability to take direction and follow detailed policies and protocols
- Effective communication skills
- Strong IT skills
- Good organisational skills and time management
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Experience of working as part of a team
- RQF/QCF/NVQ/ Level 3 in care or equivalent experience or willing to work towards one
- Ability to remain calm and take control in emergency situations
- Knowledge of CQC and other regulatory authorities
