About The Role

📍Location: The Coach House (at Howe Dell Manor)

🕒Hours:37.5 hours

💰Salary:£12.27 to £13.63 p/h + Benefits

We’re looking for reliable, practical individuals to join our team as Mental Health Support Workers at The Coach House in Howe Dell Manor. If you want to apply your existing experience in a more meaningful setting, this role is your chance to help people – and build a career you can be proud of.

In this hands‑on, people‑focused role, you’ll work as part of a supportive team helping adults with complex mental health needs. Every day is different – and brings the chance to learn, grow, and do real good.

What You’ll Do

  • Help support the daily care, safety, and wellbeing of our residents
  • Run or assist with group activities – sports, games, creative sessions, and more
  • Put care plans into action and update records with clarity
  • Keep things running smoothly and safely as part of a wider team
  • Support senior staff and help new team members get up to speed
  • Use digital systems for logging care, booking leave, and sharing updates
  • Administer and document medications, maintaining patient safety and compliance with clinical protocols
  • Prepare clear, accurate care plans that reflect assessed needs and agreed goals of care. These will be reviewed monthly
  • Ability to build meaningful and therapeutic relationships with residents, which includes holding monthly key worker meetings and regular one‑to‑one sessions
  • Carrying out daily physical health observations of the residents and liaising with medical professionals as required
  • Completing audits and daily checks, as directed by the manager

Your Experience

  • Experience working in any team‑focused environment
  • An understanding of how mental health can affect daily life
  • 1 year Mental Health Support experience
  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care preferred
  • We also value life experience and a strong work ethic

At the Coach House we provide a smaller, more intimate living space for men nearing the end of their rehabilitation. The Coach House, a ten‑bed mental health residential home next door to Howe Dell Manor Nursing Home, based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, provides a vital “stepping stone” into independent or supported living.

Howe Dell Manor is our 19‑bed specialist nursing home in Hatfield (AL10 8AE) offering a range of specialist services for men and women aged 18 and older who are suffering from enduring mental illness.
