About The Role

Unfortunately we are unable to offer sponsorship. Rates: £12.76 weekdays, £13.40 weekends.

Due to the needs of our day service, we are very interested in speaking to any Support Workers who can speak Bengali or Sylheti. Are you looking for a support role with no nights and an enhanced rate of pay for weekend hours? Our day centre supports adults (18+) with learning disabilities, autism, behaviours that may challenge, and additional health needs, and we’re looking for caring, reliable Support Workers to join the team. The rota includes some evenings and weekend work, with weekends paid at a higher rate.

About the service:

Our day centre provides a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where the people we support can build skills, enjoy meaningful activities and be part of their community. Support ranges from small group sessions through to dedicated 1-1 support, tailored to each person’s needs, communication style and goals. The adults who attend have a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, behaviours that may challenge, and co-existing physical or mental health conditions so no two days are the same, and the difference you make is real and visible!

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting people in group activities and on a 1-1 basis, both in the centre and out in the community.
  • Planning and delivering engaging, person-centred activities that build independence, confidence and life skills.
  • Following positive behaviour support plans and helping people manage situations they find difficult, calmly and respectfully.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Safeguard service users and follow all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Encourage service users to make choices and be involved in decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and attend meetings and training.
  • Providing personal care with dignity where needed.
  • Keeping clear, accurate records and working closely with families, carers and other professionals.
  • Playing your part in keeping everyone safe – following safeguarding, health and safety and care plan guidance at all times.

What we are looking for:

  • A genuinely caring, patient and positive approach.
  • One years experience as a Support Worker preferably supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism; full training is provided for the right person.
  • Resilience and calmness when supporting people whose behaviour may challenge.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills, and reliable timekeeping.
  • Flexibility to work a rota that includes some evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to complete the mandatory training.

What we can offer you:

  • Fully funded training and recognised qualifications.
  • Fully funded DBS.
  • Genuine opportunities for career progression.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Blue Light Card discount scheme.
  • Bupa cash scheme.
  • Refer-a-friend bonus.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Your birthday off after one years’ service.
  • Long service awards.
  • Enhanced rate of pay for weekend hours.
