We are looking for a motivated, passionate Head Chef to work in a small successful cafe team. Our client is a busy, independent cafe/restaurant located on the outskirts of Guildford and prides itself on serving high quality, freshly-cooked food for breakfast/brunch and lunch, desserts and cakes. They have recently benefitted from a full kitchen refit making a fantastic area to work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead from the front as the Head of Kitchen in delivering high-quality, fresh and consistent food at a fast pace, ensuring excellent presentation and timely service.
- Work with the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring excellent customer satisfaction and efficient service.
- Support the creation and development of seasonal menus and daily specials, helping to manage food costs, margins and waste.
- Foster a positive, supportive working environment and assist with staff training, coaching and development, helping to maintain high standards across the kitchen team.
- Lead the kitchen during service and confidently oversee operations in the Head of Kitchen's absence.
- Ensure the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness and health & safety are maintained, supporting the cafe's 5* EHO rating.
- Support the wider business with any additional duties appropriate to the role.
Requirements:
- You will be an experienced chef with a passion for fresh, seasonal food and a strong understanding of brunch-led service.
- You will enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen and be confident leading a service while motivating those around you.
- You will be organised, reliable and keen to continue developing your leadership skills.
- You will work closely with the Owners, taking pride in maintaining high standards and delivering an outstanding experience for every customer.
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Head Chef or an experienced Senior Sous Chef ready to step up.
Hours: 5 days out of 7, with two days off mid-week, averaging 42 hours per week (excluding breaks), shifts will be approx. 8 hours long within the hours of 8am-5pm.
