We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Mental Health Access and Support Caseworker to join our team at Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum (NNRF). This role plays a vital part in supporting asylum seekers and refugees to access appropriate mental health services, improve wellbeing, and navigate complex systems with dignity and confidence.
Your main duties will include:
- Providing one-to-one, drop-in and support to clients with mental health needs
- Referring and advocating for clients with statutory and voluntary mental health services
- Delivering workshops to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health
- Working in partnership with service providers to improve access to appropriate care
- Mapping local mental health services to support effective and informed referrals
- Monitoring client progress, maintaining accurate case records and contributing to reporting processes
- Attending multi-agency meetings and advocating for the needs of asylum seekers and refugees
- Contributing to wider organisational activities and team working across NNRF
- Recruiting, training and supervising volunteers supporting the service
We are looking for someone with experience of supporting individuals in a mental health or similar setting, who is committed to delivering person-centred, culturally sensitive services.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, ideally refugees or asylum seekers
- Good understanding of mental health needs and available support services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a caseload
- Confidence working with external agencies and advocating for clients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term for 12 months
