The Role
Reporting directly to the Course Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Course Manager and Deputy Course Manager and be instrumental to the day-to-day maintenance and development of the course. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional seeking a rewarding and progressive career in greenkeeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily maintenance and presentation of the golf course to championship standards
- Support course setup and preparation for competitions and events
- Operate and maintain a wide range of turf maintenance machinery
- Assist with pesticide applications and fertilizer programs
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems
- Support environmental and wildlife conservation initiatives
- Mentor junior members of the greenkeeping team
- Contribute to the development and implementation of course improvement projects
- NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf (Level 3 desirable)
- Good knowledge and practical skills in all aspects of golf course maintenance
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates (current and valid)
- Competent in operating a wide range of turf maintenance machinery
- Understanding of general course setup and preparation for daily play and competitions
- Reliable, punctual, and highly motivated with excellent work ethic
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility to work weekends and respond to operational demands
- Ability to play golf to a reasonable standard
- Experience working in a similar high-quality turf environment
- Previous experience on a championship standard golf course
- Knowledge of integrated pest management and sustainable turf practices
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems and course drainage
