Hours: 35 hours per week plus matchdays and additional hours as required

About the Role

Notts County Football Club is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Grounds Person to join our Grounds Team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career in professional sports turf management within a first-class football environment. The successful candidate will work across both Meadow Lane Stadium and the Club's training ground at Highfields, helping to maintain high-quality playing surfaces and surrounding areas throughout the season. We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong work ethic, a passion for outdoor work and sport, and a willingness to learn and develop within a professional football club.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of hybrid playing surfaces & natural grass football pitches and surrounding areas.
  • Operate pedestrian and ride-on mowers, strimmers and other turf care equipment.
  • Operate and maintain irrigation systems across both sites.
  • Support pitch marking and general presentation of playing surfaces.
  • Assist with tractor and trailer work where required.
  • Carry out grass cutting, strimming and general grounds maintenance duties.
  • Support seasonal renovation works and wider maintenance projects.
  • Assist with deliveries and manual handling of materials including sand, seed and fertiliser.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machinery, equipment stores and wash-down areas.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and to a high professional standard.
  • Support matchday and training requirements as directed by the Head Grounds Person.

About You

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or currently working towards completion).
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and matchdays.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual duties.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within football, golf, sports turf or landscaping environments.
  • Experience operating small tractors or ride-on mowers.
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of turf care machinery.
  • Passion for football and professional sport.
