About the Role
Notts County Football Club is seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Grounds Person to join our Grounds Team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career in professional sports turf management within a first-class football environment. The successful candidate will work across both Meadow Lane Stadium and the Club’s training ground at Highfields, helping to maintain high-quality playing surfaces and surrounding areas throughout the season. We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong work ethic, a passion for outdoor work and sport, and a willingness to learn and develop within a professional football club.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of hybrid playing surfaces & natural grass football pitches and surrounding areas.
- Operate pedestrian and ride-on mowers, strimmers and other turf care equipment.
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems across both sites.
- Support pitch marking and general presentation of playing surfaces.
- Assist with tractor and trailer work where required.
- Carry out grass cutting, strimming and general grounds maintenance duties.
- Support seasonal renovation works and wider maintenance projects.
- Assist with deliveries and manual handling of materials including sand, seed and fertiliser.
- Maintain cleanliness of machinery, equipment stores and wash-down areas.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and to a high professional standard.
- Support matchday and training requirements as directed by the Head Grounds Person.
About You
Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or currently working towards completion).
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and matchdays.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual duties.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within football, golf, sports turf or landscaping environments.
- Experience operating small tractors or ride-on mowers.
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of turf care machinery.
- Passion for football and professional sport.
