Are you ready to take your Youth Work career to the next level, join Nottinghamshire County Council Youth Service, and gain your national qualification (JNC) as a Youth Worker level 6 while gaining practical hands-on experience?

We have an exciting opportunity in the Youth Service participation team for a Youth Work apprenticeship. The youth work apprentice scheme has recently started, enabling you to become a professionally qualified JNC-recognised Level 6 (degree level) Youth Worker. The apprenticeship course will last for 3 years, and the training will be a mixture of regular online lessons, course work and on-the-job training. Alongside this, you will work as part of Nottinghamshire County Council Youth Service. On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be guaranteed a permanent position. Youth Service Is Dedicated To Providing Safe Spaces, Trusted Youth Workers, And Fun And Engaging Things To Do. Join Us And Help Make This Happen If You Have Experience Of

  • Delivering creative and innovative youth work.
  • Building positive relationships with young people.
  • Developing links with the local community.
  • Managing part-time staff.
  • Delivering 4 evening / weekend sessions a week, plus daytime and after school targeted youth work on issues-based topics, relevant to young people needs and the work of the participation team.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the district and wider service
  • This is a countywide role and will involve travelling to various settings, there will be times when you will need to attend events and projects. The post holder must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle to fulfil these roles. Disabled employees who are unable to drive because of their disability will be able to use taxis to carry out their duties.

Key Requirements

  • To be considered for the apprenticeship, you must have a minimum qualification at level 2 in Youth Work and have either gained or are due to complete your level 3 by August 2025.
  • Under the apprenticeship funding rules, UK Nationals or other persons with a right of abode are as follows.

UK nationals or other persons with a right of abode have eligible residency status if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK or the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous 3 years on the first day of the apprenticeship.

  • Non-UK nationals have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years previous to the first day of the apprenticeship. Any Applicant on a Vias will also require a Visa that covers the full length of the apprenticeship, including the EPA period.
  • You must also have your Maths and English Grade 4 or equivalent or be able to complete functional skills to Level 2. (Please note this may change following recent government guidance, which we are awaiting further information)
