All trustees need to demonstrate the following competencies to become a member of the Board:
- A commitment to Nottinghamshire Mind’s vision, mission and values.
- Knowledge and/or interest in mental health issues.
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort.

- An ability to analyse information and think creatively.

The role of the Board of Trustees is to govern the activities and affairs of Nottinghamshire Mind and oversee the strategic and general management. Specifically, trustees ensure that Nottinghamshire Mind has a clear purpose and direction, is solvent, well‑run, and delivers its charitable and strategic objectives. The overall role of a Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
