Are you looking for a rewarding and varied role? Wathwood Hospital is a regional medium secure hospital and part of the forensic care group which includes other low, medium and high secure services. We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of person-centred care. We are seeking to recruit Band 6 team leaders to join our fantastic multi-disciplinary teams within the hospital to provide effective and safe assessment, risk management, care and treatment to aid recovery and further the patient journey. Our team leaders take responsibility for covering out of hours with a senior nurse on site roster. You must be able to work a 7‑day week, 24‑hour shift pattern, including regular night shifts. You must be an RMN registered with the NMC. Options for flexible working and part‑time working are available.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of nurses and healthcare professionals on the ward and ensure patients receive a high standard of individualised patient care.
- Take charge of shifts and deputise for the Ward Manager to achieve required standards of practice and communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of both staff and patients are not compromised.
- Complete mandatory training to assist professional development.
- Develop and teach nursing and non‑nursing staff, manage allocated resources and maintain effectiveness and efficiency in the absence of the Ward Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- RMN registered with the NMC and committed to providing the highest standards of care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Able to lead by example, promote excellent communication, motivation, supervision and role modelling.
- Committed to the continuous professional development of staff and maintaining high standards of care through excellent communication, motivation, supervision and role modelling.
Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced). The cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
