The Mental Health Division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust includes Adult Mental Health, Mental Health Services for Older People and Specialist Services. Over 2,800 staff provide vital care across community to acute settings.
Band 3 Healthcare Assistant – Horizon Day Services, Highbury Hospital, Bulwell, Nottingham.
The role works under the direction of a registered professional to support a specific patient group in the Intellectual Disabilities setting.
Responsibilities- Assist with daily living activities, addressing physical and mental health care needs and promoting individual health and wellbeing.
- Undertake, record and report clinical observations as directed by the registered professional.
- Assist patients with activities within the environment, including accompanying and escorting patients outside the ward setting.
- Maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records—both written and computerised—and safeguard healthcare records.
- Treat patients as individuals, enabling maximum independence.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably expected in the role.
- Participate in community-based activities and support patients in the local area under professional guidance.
- NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with people with Intellectual Disabilities, associated mental health needs, personality disorder or behaviours that challenge.
- Strong organisational and planning skills to deliver care according to individual care plans.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with multi‑disciplinary teams, families and carers.
- Ability to motivate the team, show initiative and work collaboratively under a registered nurse.
- Full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use; reasonable adjustments available for disabled individuals under the Equality Act 2010.
- Co‑operation with a Multi‑Disciplinary Team will be required.
- This position does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled Worker Visa; sponsorship is not available.
- DBS checks are required and the cost will be deducted from salary over the first two months, with an optional DBS Update Service fee of £16 per year.
